Characteristics of baby and child skin

Baby and child skin differs structurally from adult skin. The stratum corneum is thinner, barrier function is not yet fully mature, and the surface-area-to-body-weight ratio is higher — making it more sensitive to environmental factors and moisture loss.

The core principle is therefore simplicity and gentleness: few, well-tolerated, low-fragrance, barrier-friendly products. Short lukewarm baths, gentle cleansing and moisturising while skin is still damp are generally recommended.
